Deutsche Post DHL Group (DP DHL) has followed many of its peers and has made plans to acquire JF Hillebrand Group for ~1.75 billion USD. The company follows AP Moller Maersk, DSV Panalpina, and Kuehne + Nagel in an acquisition frenzy this year. Hillebrand specializes in transporting large quantities of liquids, beverages, and products requiring special care through ocean transport. As of last year, the company has generated ~1.65 billion US dollars in revenue and forecasts to ship another 500,000 TEUs in 2021.
Frank Appel, Chief Executive of DHL
Frank Appel stated: “With the growing maturity of our freight forwarding business, this bolt-on acquisition of Hillebrand is highly complementary to our existing portfolio. In line with our Group Strategy, we strengthen our core logistics business and deliver profitable long-term growth.
